Hello all, Not sure what my leadscrews are on my Harbor Freight Micro Mill. I want to set Steps per Unit in Motor Config. I have a Xylotex 3 Axis system with 269 Oz. steppers, 1/8th Stepand 200 steps per whatever. For some reason I had them set at 32,768. I tell it to move 0.50 in X or Y and it moves a little over 9/16. Can I lower the 32,768 to something else and get better accuracy? Thank you, Ray

Place a rule on the screws and count the threads that are in one inch, then multiply 1600 by that number and you will have your steps per inch.

Thanks for the quick reply Hood. They are metric leadscrews. Do I still use the process you mentioned? Thanks, Ray

No you need to measure one thread pitch if they are metric, you could measure over 10 threads and then divide by ten as it may be easier. Then how you calculate the steps per unit will depend on whether you are using metric or imperial as Mach default.

Hi, Ray
As Hood stated is correct, It will all make sense at some point.
Try 58254.222, That should move you approx. 1 inch, In the end you need adjust the Step's Per value to set/calibrate the axis to move "1 Unit" for mm or inch which ever your using.
Then you will probably need to use backlash setting to get any slop cleaned up so both direction's will move 1 unit.
