Title: Motor tuning on machturn
Post by: kdoney on July 21, 2009, 11:26:28 AM
I can't get my motors tuned in Machturn. I go to my lathe, move x and z 1 inch then go to machturn and adjust my steps per. I'm down to 100 pulses per and mach still says I am moving 200 inches. What the !! I am in inches as far as I know. Any help?

If steppers what is the stepping/microstepping of the drives? If Servos what is the count of the encoders? Do you have any reduction between motors and screws? What is the pitch of the screws?

None of that should matter should it? I am using a pendant to move the lathe 1" and then adjusting the software "steps per" to match. My problem is that changes to "steps per" are not making any difference in the outcome. For instance the last adjustment, when 1" movement showed as being 10" on the DRO I then needed to divide the steps per by 10. That brought the steps per to 100. After making the change to steps per, I run the same test and the DRO still said 10"

Steps per unit should be calculated from your hardware, if changing the steps per unit makes no difference then it sounds like you are not saving the axis settings.
