Title: G28
Post by: comet on July 18, 2009, 01:28:49 PM
Could somebody please explain in laymans terms how to set up the g28 toolchange position.
I.E. how when I have zero'ed a job I want the machine to go to  x100 y 100 z20 when I code g28.
The exact sequence of events,to go through including the bizzare machine position coordinates system.
  cheers

Go to Config menu then Homing and Limits and enter your X Y and Z positions for G28. When you MDI or have G28 in the code it should go to that position.

The problem I am having is with the g54 fixture figures.what you suggested does not work when there are figures in machine position
or g54 and I cant seem to clear them.If you press reference home it seems to mess things up. :-[

Sorry not understanding what you are meaning. The numbers you enter for G28 are in  machine coordinatates so if you have referenced your machine the G28 position will always be to the amount you have set on the homing and limits page, work Offsets have nothing to do with that position.

the problem is that when I go into g28 it adds whatever the homing position is to the figures in machine position.
I canot fathom how to zero the machine position coordinates, in mdi, the zero buttons dont work, if you overtype then press enter it just reverts back to what was previosly in there.
I need to get to a state where machine and work co-ordinates are the same.
the g54 ofset position is the same as the ofset shown in machine position when the work coordinates are zeroed.Again I can go ito fixtures but it will not allow me to edit the figures???

The machine coords (G53) are zeroed by referencing your machine. Do you have home switches on the machine?
