Title: retrofit a Harding Superslant 3 axis cnc lathe?
Post by: fcycles on July 16, 2009, 11:47:57 PM
I have a Hardinge 3 axis cnc lathe , 1984 superslant, works great, never any problems with it but the memory and transfer rate is terrible , i typicly drip feed from my pc to our machining center but have a hard time with this lathe and its memory limitations. It doesnt have the capability to dnc a program from the pc. Its got a tape reader but..... I dont use it for obvious reasons. I end up storing and deleting programs between the pc and lathe continuosly. So Quick question if anyone doesnt mind taking the time to reply.... I've never used mach3 but understand it might be able to be used as a controller for this lathe? Its a 1984 Harding Superslant 3 axis lathe. It has a Fanuc GN6tc currently. (pretty much the same as gn6 but with a 3rd axis). What would be involved with updating it? Any input would be great . Thanks!!!!
