Title: New PoKeys Plugin soon available!!!
Post by: poppabear on June 06, 2009, 10:14:30 AM
Greetings,

Art was kind enough to let me have the source to the PoKeys plugin. I have added to the dialog a way that a User can choose to MAP Inputs, and/or Outputs
both to and from the Pokeys to User LEDs, that way you can expand what you can do with the Pokeys, it will allow you to do more custimization with the Brian or Macro pump, or both..... to interact with screens, etc. (config area mid/bottom right).

a "Flash Driven" help file has also been added, so you will have info at the touch of a button (bottom left button)

Screen shot attached.

Boris,

Can you get ahold of Matt?? Matt had found a Firmware bug, in the Invert output programming in the Pokeys.  He sent me a new "fixed PoKeys software, but when I loaded the new software the USB quit working.  I tried the "Reset" procedure that Matt told me about, several times and it doesnt work unfortunatly.  I sent a skype to Matt, about the issue and that I need a new Software that fixes the USB bug......  Currently I am unable to connect at all to the pokeys...

If he can get the USB bug fixed, I can finish up the installer for the new plugin and get it to you for release.  I had send the source code for the plugin to Matt, for his review, but with testing it turned out to be a firmware issue.

I will tell you what happened in my case:

The pokeys was working fine, with the last PoKeys Software, but Matt and I found a INvert Output bug in the software. He sent me a new PoKeys Software that was to fix the firmware bug. When I installed it, the software could no longer "see" the pokeys, it keep telling me that their was NOT one conncected and did I want to goto demo mode.  The Red LED would come on fine, but, when you would plug it in, windows would not see it as a USB device, even when looking at it under device manager. I tried the Reset procedure and several other things under Matts guidance none caused the PoKeys Software to be able to connect to the device, nor would windows see it or connect to it as a USB device.

You told me you where sending a new Pokeys to test on since that last software "damaged" the one I have. I guess my question would be then, why did that last software Matt sent me, fry the Pokeys Firmware?  Just asking as a curiosity as to what you guys found that Zapped it.....  I understand that the new software will work with the new PoKey your sending my way......   Was just trying to be thorough in my Bug Report to ya.......

The LCD Display....  I saw that you said you may add this later down the road, Let me know I can add it to the Pokeys for custom user messages or other crap.....

Scott, I do not know the reason why your PoKeys stopped working. I have told you if windows does not show the PoKeys then also upgrade is impossible.
That is also the reason that I asked you to send me your device. That we can analyze it.

Just an update on progress, I am on hold for 1-2 weeks while waiting for the new Pokeys to arrive to finish testing, before releasing the new Plug/installer.

Title: Re: New PoKeys Plugin soon available!!! added Analog Spindle out!!
Post by: poppabear on June 18, 2009, 08:06:44 AM
Well it is almost done, here are some screen shots of the New Pokeys config screen, and PoKeys Diagnostic screen set.

I added the Option that you can have Analog Spindle Speed control OUT, (10bit res, 0-1023), on Pin43. The UserLEDs for mapping discreate inputs/outputs
are all working as well.  Finished up the Flash Help screen that has a copy of the Users manual in it. Got to go out today, but should finish the installer, tonight or tommorrow.

PoKeys.set screen has On/Off control of 55 UserLEDs, (you can only turn on/off the ones you choose as outputs, since the ones you choose for inputs are always updated by the PoKeys). It has a Display for the Value of 1-4 Analog In, and the optional Analog Out that is tied to the DRO99 of the spindle.
you have all 7 of the Encoder DROs on screen for your use as well.

Thanks goes out also to "Matt", of Pokeys who helped me get the Protocol formatted to map out an Analog out for the spindle.
Note:  We found a "Bug" in the hardware that Boris will be putting on his website, BUT, if you have Pin4 as an input, and it is grounded when the PoKeys is
plugged into the USB, (or the computer boots up with it plugged in), then the PoKeys will not boot up!!!  So watch out for that.

I will be posting the Installer here, and Finished Plugins, and Boris will have one from his site as well.

NOTE:  When you use the Plugin Control to configure the dialog window to set up your PoKeys in Mach3, (after you enable the plugin), you will HAVE TO Boot up Mach3 WITHOUT the PoKeys hooked up, make your config, close mach, plugin the PoKeys, then reboot mach.  That is because the Monitor window also constantly updates via the PoKeys, and you cannot make changes to it while it is updating.

There is a Hardware bug in the pokeys, if Pin 4 is set as an input and it is Made (contact closed so the signal is going to ground), then the Pokeys will not boot.

That is what's wrong, set as an input but at the moment left free in the air... does it automatically pull the contact to ground?

Greetings!

I recently updated to the new plugin.I installed the mach3installer,the Pokeys.dll file is inside plugins folder and now mach can't seem to find the Pokeys. Before it was saying "Pokeys up and running".Now,nothing...
Any suggestion?

if you downloaded the last "MultiPoKeys" installer, it sets up 4 PoKeys .dlls, PoKeys0.dll, PoKeys1.dll, etc. when you install the new plugin, and your PoKeys lets say is ID 0...  and it is the only one you have, goto Config/Plugins, and put a Green Check next to PoKeys0.dll    (and if you have the old pokeys.dll, and it has a green check, then UNCHECK it, then hit ok, close mach3 and reboot. In the plugin Menu, you will see a menu item called PoKeys0  click it and it will bring up your new config dialog.

NOTE:  There is a new Plugin comming out very shortly, that adds, some more features, and there will be TWO installers, ONE for a Single PoKey setup and ONE for a mutlpokey setup.

Hi scott!

Thanks for the info.I will try to do what you say.Another question that i haven't figure it out. With ULEDS, can i use them to light up a led from mach?Example: if i hit the RESET button in Mach and instead of the "virtual" LED in the screen a LED from Pokeys comes on.
Can i do that?
