Title: Problem with Jog Step Mode
Post by: TunerTom on May 31, 2009, 06:23:18 AM
This is probably a stupid question.  I've hunted around and cannot find another example of it, so here goes...

When I engage the Jog Step Mode, I have to press the cursor keys twice for each step advance. It would be a lot more convenient, if I could get the steppers to move each time a cursor key is pressed.

I've tried the <Tab> key and experimented around with settings there to no avail.

Is there a simple way to address this matter?

Thanks...

What increment are you trying to step at and what are your steps per unit set at?

Are you talking about the "Steps Per" edit box inside the Motor Tuning Dialog?

Steps Per = 50

Yes, what I am getting at is if you have 50 steps per mm/inch then your resolution will only be 1/50 = 0.02 so if you are trying to jog a step of 0.01 then it will take two presses as the first press would be 0.01 and the second another 0.01 which would be 0.02. If it moved on the first one it would have to jog 0.02 (your minimum resolution) which would be over the step that you were attempting to move.

OK,  I am not at the lathe this morning, but I see what you are saying.  I did not realize what the "Steps Per" did. I will try this at work tomorrow.
