Title: New Lcam with post processor
Post by: Brian Barker on August 12, 2006, 10:58:38 PM
There is a new Lcam with the ability to read a Post file... The Post file can be changed in notepad and I have included an example .pst file for you to play with. There is also a Doc in the Zip file that should help you with the PostVars that you will need to make your post. Please test it and tell me if you think you would like to have other PostVars added and how it works for you. So you can get this on the FTP server under LazyCam/LazyCam 2.60 With Post Doc's.zip

Thank you :) and sorry I can't tell you more... I and burnt out and need to get some rest  ::)

Thanks
Brian

Sorry Brian.
downloaded it and opened a file.
Selected a contour and it came up correct.

Went thru altering depth feeds etc but as soon as I alter the fisrt item LC freezes and locks up.

Hi, Brian

It locked up when I entered Start Depth and Final Depth in Layer Control column's only.

Been working on Plasma with no Z hight

M3/M5 generates first Dot/Pearce then leaves the remaining 4 with on Dot/Pearce plas/post options 0,0,1,1,20,1 not default..

Manual file mode seem's to work in any sub. Dir. now and post's code to the proper Dir. as assigned in LC.

But it will not update Mach3 even if there all in the same sub. Dir. even when its \Mach3.

Auto file create still post's code in \Mach3 as Gcodefilename.tap, not in \Mach3\Gcode where it should be, but will update Mach3 with new file.

Also it will not increment further file's with the same name, test1.tap, test2.tap as it did some time back, any way I think it did.

Working on some of the post's for LC option's, I have a way to go hear, could you post an example the way it could / would be.

Just some info so you wont get board.

Thank's Chip

Hi, Brian

This morning it was working fine, so I deleted the LC. XML should have re-named it o-well dumb dum me, it's back to freezing up the screen.

On in ital load of LC it doesn't generate an XML that's probably normal  at this time it's freezing as before, even with a xml, I have close it and restart it have try-ed to get it to work and dup. the change that made it work.

Hears my non working xml maybe this will help, send me your working xml to try hear.

Loaded the Dxf I posted  in LC, I can set / change all the item's in Layer Control Except Final Depth and Start Depth if thy are changed and OK is clicked the screen freezes and the only way to get out is Windows Task Manager End Task.

Thank's Chip

Hi, Brian

I have found that if I load a dxf file and set the Per Pass value to .5 that I can set Final Depth and Start Depth without lockup.

At this point I can change the Per Pass back to Default Value of 1 and seem to have no lockup problem.

This is without closing LC and restarting, once shutdown and restarted it will freeze again with out changing the value in Per Pass.

If I change Per Pass to .5 close the window then change it back to 1 default value again then the problem is gone till restart of LC again.

BTW the processer is at 100% when locked up, window's running, End Task will shut LC down  .

Thank's Chip

Brian,

Here's the sequence.
Load LC.
Open x3beam.dxf
Accept defaults on load options
Click outer shape
set :-  [ working in mm ]
Depth 10.0
feedrate 250.0
passdepth 5.0
plunge 100.0
Rapid hight 3.0
spindle 2000.0
start depth 0.0
tool 11

Post code and x3beam.tap is generated. Close LC and go to Mach3
this is the first part of the code. Mach3 barfs on line 45 no feed rate ?
Note rapid hight is 0.1 and depth is 0.0 ?

Just noticed only one feed has been applied where it specifies two 100 and 250.

Brian,

Reading my code again there is no G21 or any way to select it and it hasn't selected a tool.

The depth needs to be set to a negitive number :) I needed to add Positive cut heights for an OEM :(

Looking at the other stuff now :)

If you hava a negitive depth it seems to be working well..

Chip i am now off to see what I can do to get you fixed :)

Chip I am going to change the post so you can cut points. You will not be able to use the can cycle because I don't think you can have M3's and M5's in a can cycle :(

I should have this fixed in a few

Other then the power going out for a bit this was fun ot fix :) The new Post processor is making it SO much faster to make changes with out beaking other things in the program.. I changed the default post in Lcam but I know you are not running a plasma so you can change the post to make your water jet run  :o If you have trouble I will give you a hand

Hi, Brian

There few items that still exist ill post them separately Ver.2.61.

If I load a DXF file and enter a Final Depth or a Rapid Hight without changing the Per Pass value upon clicking OK, LasyCam will lockup.

If I load a dxf file and set the Per Pass value to .5, then I can set Final Depth and Start Depth without lockup.

At this point I can change the Per Pass back to Default Value of 1 and  have no lockup problem.

This is without closing LC and restarting, once shutdown and restarted it will freeze again with out changing the value in Per Pass if Final Depth or Rapid Hight are used.

If I change Per Pass to .5 close the window then change it back to 1 default value again then the problem is gone till restart of LC again.

If there are multipal layers then Per Pas value has to be changed in all layers

Windows  End Task will shut LC down after freeze .

Thank's Chip

Hi, Brian

Just read your last post that's what I am dooing now,------ Please read this post though.

The G81 caned cycle was something LC 2.60 chose not me, I figured you were going to pull a rabbit out of your hat.

The -1 worked one time for me, If I change the default Value in Per Pass from 1 to .5 then OK, then set Per Pass back to 1 then I can enter - or + in  Final Depth and or Rapid Hight without LasyCam locking UP.

This is needed in all layers to keep it from locking up if Final Depth and or Rapid Hight are changed layer by layer.

Could it be when LC loads that the Default 1 value is-sent being properly loaded in some sort of Variable location ?.

Could you make the Gcode post also show Default Post / Plasma or User post"Plasma***.PST is being used at top of file.

Thank's for the plasma example.PST it's a little clearer where your going with this, Just allot of soreting this out for me and allot of cleaning up the code to remove previous structure to streamline for you.

On other item, LC saves my changes in the LC.XML But Never reloads any of them on startup, write now I am only using one file for testing.

Everything is in Mach3 in propper Sub. Dir's.

Thank's Chip

Hello Chip,
Are you telling me that Lcam is locking up when you enter the final depth? If it is I don't understand the steps :(

You can add the name of the post in the .pst file :) This is what I have been doing when I build them... I will add them to the default post in Mach3

I don't understand why Lcam is not loading your XML.. This has not been a problem for me :(

Hi, Brian

Just downloaded the new Mach3d1.90.074, My default LC.XML loads now and the Plasma/DXF file that I use for tests is write and on the mark/Perfect !!!!!!!!!!!!!  Whoo-Hoooooooo.

This is with plasma Post Options set to 0,0,1,1,20,1 works great.

Even though the LC.XML saves now, IF I don't Set the Per Pass to .5 along with Final Depth and Rapid Hight set to some value other than 0,  it won't save the Per Pass and often frezze up LC if 0 is entered in Per Pass..

If you use Default setting's .3,.15,1,1.20,1 there are some issues. see below.

Just what I think below, maybe some one could comment on this.

The G0 should pickup the Plasma Initial Hight in plasma setting's window.

Need to add a Z0 after G0 X0 Y0 line # N114 to ret to start Pos.

You need to change your rapid height to something other then 0.. If you set your rapid height to .3 I think you will be happy :)

That should do it..

Hi, Brian

Just want to Say This Rely Work's Nice Nice Nice, the .3 in Rapid Hight dose it.

If you set the Rapid to 2 the code thats generated produces a Rapid  Hight of 2 to clear hold downs and also the .3 for Pierce Hight

from Plasma Window is present in the Gcode also.

If  Layer Control Rapid Hight <= to Plasma Window Pierce Hight then Rapid Hight = Pierce Hight else leave Rapid Hight at Rapid Hight.

Then you wouldn't need to set Rapid Hight unless you wanted to generate hold down clearance level in Gcode.

There are a few extra  Z .3000 generated though.

There are still some M3 with S0's generated that cause a lots of Problems with VB Script Editor from time to time, sometimes to the

point of Mach3 lock's up.

Have to use Win. Task Mgr, End Task Mach3 then run Driver Test to allow Mach3 to run again.

That sed, If your picking up the .3 and .15 from the plasma window for use in other spots to generat the Gcode.

Why not leave  Rapid Hight for safe clearance level use.

Spent quit alot of time on this tonight, see code below

Hi, Brian

My prev. post was done with the default post in LC couldn't get the Plasma example to work in ver.2.61.

Down loaded Mach3D1.90.075 with ver. 2.62 LC and posts, This Rely Works Nice.

The Plasma post, I can change and save them now. Just made one change hear this is nice.

Thank's for all the Help, Chip
