Title: SPINDLE WON'T SHUT DOWN
Post by: jordan21 on May 07, 2009, 07:48:20 PM
Any ideas why my spindle won't completely stop.  When I get finished running a program the spindle winds down from 18000 to around 3000 rpm but won't completely turnoff.  On the mach screen it shows it as off but on my vfd it hovers around 3000 rpm.  The only way to get it stopped is to type 0 in the mach screen and hit the spindle button.  Does anyone have any ideas on what might be happening?

Sounds like maybe you min. speed for the pulley it is running may be 3000. If so, change it to 0 and see if that cures it. Config, spindle pulley.

Tell us more about your setup. How are you controlling the analog to your VFD?

You should set your system as follows.

With the VFD disconnected from the supply.

With speed set to maximum rpm you should see +10v to the control pin to the VFD then +0v when set at Zero rpm

This is achieved with the ports and pins settings

Then you also set a relay to control your spindle ON/OFF

You are not currently turning off your motor just turning it to minimum "Big Difference"
