Hello I am trying to set up a router table. I am having trouble getting the motors to turn. They just bump 1 time when i try to jog them. when i use other software they work ok. When I open the diagnostics page in Mach there is no indication of a signal on the parallel port pins at all. I used the same settings that worked on my other software. ???
please help

Do you see a pulse frequency and a Time in Int on the Diagnostic page?
Do you have the correct port address set up?
Can you attach the xml for the profile you are using, you will find it in the Mach3 folder. If you use the standard Mill profile it will be called Mach3Mill.xml, you will need to copy that to a different location on your drive and rename it before the forum will accept it, suggest you rename to wtxrcdog.xml

Hello I have a pulse freq. of 23776 and it stays steady. the port is set at 0x378 which is what is found in the device manager. the interrupts seem to be working also.
I have attached the .xml file.
Thanks Bruce

What is your jog settings? Is it continous jog mode or step jog mode?
-
My jog settings are continuous and the motor only moves one way and only one step. The DRO's move as they should.

Had a quick look at your xml and it looks fine.
If you have a voltmeter you could remove the cable from the port and put it between pins 3 and Gnd pin and jog the X axis one way then the other, the voltage should toggle between 5V and 0v as you change directions. If that checks out fine repeat for pins 5 and 7 jogging Y and Z respectively.
If your voltage does change then put the cable back in and try at the other end of the cable.
Do you use a breakout board?

Oh also meant to say try increasing the pulse width to 5 and see if that helps although I suspect it wont.

I increased the pulse width to 5 already. I do use a breakout board.

Hi, Bruce
Try this xml, I changed your Active Low's and reversed step/dir pin's around in Ports & Pin's page.

Have you tested with a voltmeter?

Sorry I haven,t had time to test out my ports. Work you know! have to leave tomorrow for a week at work won't get back until Wednesday of next week. No time to play! the system works with KCAM so I will probably just use that so I can get down to learning to make parts instead of trouble shooting Mach3.
Thanks Bruce

I ordered a new computer system with only windows xp on it . Maybe this will eleminate some of my problems. It should be built by the time I get off work next week.
