Title: Cant get CV led to turn off
Post by: SteinarN on April 22, 2009, 08:09:59 AM
I have trouble to understand the CV led, OEM code 54 in the main screen.

It stays on no matter what I do. I have unchecked  all in Config>General config> CV control.

What is the purpose with this led? Is it something I don't understand or have done wrong?

CV means constant velocity, the other mode is ES (Exact Stop) you can choose whether to have one or the other as default by choosing the option on General Config page. Whatever you have there will be the default but it can be changed by your G-Code, if your code has G61 it will change to Exact Stop, if your code has G64 it will change to Constant Velocity.

Ahhh, I didn't see the Motion mode check box, only the CV control check box.

Thanks for your help  :)

I see the G61/G64 code in the Code line. New G codes load/unloads in this line only at start up of Mach3 it looks like. Don't know yet if this line updates as a G-code file is loaded.

I played around with a "square pocketing file". Zoomed in in the toolpath window. Fascinating to see the effect on changes in the CV Distance and CV Feedrate settings.

As I understand it the CV Distance is the maximum distance from a corner where the deviation from the original toolpath is allowed to start. The CV Feedrate seems to be the maximum feedrate in "corner cutting mode". A low value here makes a sharper corner with less deviation from the original toolpath. A zero value here should make the CV mode the same as the exact stop mode where the feed rate is zero a very short moment.

Try OEM 817

OEM 817 is Spindle Requested DRO. Is this related to the CV settings?

Not OEMDRO 817, OEM LED 817. That's what I use in my screen for the CV Mode LED.

Hey Gerry where did you get OEM LED 817 ?

It works but I can't find any reference to it.

The only ones I can see is 54 for CV on,  56 for CV off

I have no idea where I got it from??? :) Some screen set that I looked at must have been using it. But I tried 54 and it works as well.
