Title: Bridgeport V2XT, SX-16, conversion to Mach3
Post by: Tallrs on April 10, 2009, 01:13:45 AM
Greetings
I'm in the process of purchasing a Bridgeport V2XT with the SX-16 controller plugged into the old FMDC type BP board and would like to convert to Mach3 but need advice on how to interface a PC to the V2XT servo drive boards.
Any help would be appreciated.

If they are analogue drives then you will need some sort of convertor to turn the Step/Dir signals from Mach into +-10v for the drives. There used to be the Pixie boards that would do that but afraid they are no longer made, Rutex make some but have not seen any reports as to whether they work well or not.
Another option would be use an external motion controller such as the DSPMC or Galil, they are not a cheap route though :(  DSPMC seems to be working well  and from what I have heard the Galil seems to be progressing as well.

Thanks Hood for the reply and the info
Found a working V2XT DX32 with a BMDC this weekend 04/11/09 so I'll hold off on the conversion to Mach3 for now.
Did check out the Galil boards and Wow the mill I just purchased didn't cost that much but if your desperate to get your mill up and running it's a bargin.
