Title: ShuttlePro VID Number?
Post by: tcgliderguy on April 01, 2009, 02:13:36 PM
I'm trying to get my Contour ShuttlePro working with Mach 3....

I followed the documentation, installed the ShuttlePro software and tested the unit (everything seemed fine), uninstalled the ShuttlePro software, and can find the ShuttlePro plug-in under the "Config Plug-ins" menu.

My problem comes with Step #8 in the documentation.  it says that the "Vendor ID for the Contour Shuttle Products should always be 0B33".

My ShuttlePro (Model # SP-JNS) comes up with "USB\VID_05F3&PID-0240\5&201D6F28&0&2 "..... which I take to mean a Vendor ID of 05F3.

I can't find any of the 5 Config menu choices that give me anything other than a "No Shuttle of Type Detected" in the status window of Mach3.

Does anyone have any suggestions? ... or am I the semi-proud owner of a bastard step-child ShuttlePro that is not supported?

Thanks!

Hmmm, is this a Shuttle Pro 2 or just the original Shuttle Pro?

I suspect that it is the original ShuttlePro... but all I really know about it is the model number (SP-JNS)

Does Mach3 require the Model 2 version?

Thanks!

Yes, I believe Mach does need it to be the Shuttle Pro 2 Version.

If yours does not say Shuttle Pro 2 on it, then it's the original version. I'm guessing it's silver in color?

Yes... It's silver.  This is interesting because the top line of the documentation says "This document describes how to install the Shuttle or ShuttlePro into Mach3" .......

I guess I'll need to get a Shuttle Pro 2......  :-(

I'm guessing they meant the Shuttle Express (smaller and less features) or the Shuttle Pro 2.

Thanks for the help!  If you have any influence with the 'Powers that Be', you might encourage them to update the documentation to reflect the necessity for the ShuttlePro 2... or whatever....

It's never easy being me!  :-(

I have no influence here but I will certainly pass it on for you, that's for sure -  ;)

There's a good chance the powers that be will be seeing this at some point though  :)

Just to let everyone know that the Shuttle plugin has now been updated so that the silver shuttle pro v1 will work.

I have one of the silver shuttle and confirm that it now works fine.

That is GREAT news!  When I found that my existing, silver ShuttlePro wouldn't work... I got sidetracked onto other projects.  I'm going to drag it out, and try again.. with the new driver...

Thanks for letting us know about this development!

Forgot to mention, in the shuttle plugin config page you need to select PID_5F3 as the type near the bottom left hand corner.

Forgot to mention, in the shuttle plugin config page you need to select PID_5F3 as the type near the bottom left hand corner.

Looking from outside the box it would be lower right.
I have 2 shuttle pro v1 silver and they do not act the same, even though they are the same model.
First one with a 6' cord works fine without drivers and just the plugin in mach3.(X2 Mini-Mill -/ 600mhz / 768 ram / xp pro /
then I needed another PC for my other machine so I can use them at the same time(HomeBrew 24" x 36" router)
(gateway 1.8ghz / 512 ram / xp pro /)

That's when I purchased the second shuttle pro.(This one only has a 3' cord.)
I tested it on the X2 PC that was shared with the router and it didn't work.
So, I then proceeded to test them on the gateway PC and mach didn't recognize either one, to make a long story and days of confusion,
I downloaded the latest software from the Contour site ( http://retail.contourdesign.com/?/products/23 ) ( Shuttle Driver v2.7.8 in the pull down ) and installed it and Mach still didn't see it. Then I had to manually install an HID compliant driver from the list of devices in XP for it because it kept asking for a driver everytime I rebooted, and select PID_5F3 in the plugin in Mach3 and it now works. And on a 3rd PC just the shuttle software was installed with the mach plugin to get it to work. Hope this helps some one else with the similar problems.
