Title: DRO Issues Pls help
Post by: miics on March 27, 2009, 09:44:32 AM
Hi all I'm new here si please be gentle.  I have today finally got everything i need to get the motors rolling.  i have installed mach3 (licenced) on my computer (ibm thinkpad pentuim m 1.7g 512mb ram).  when i go to my quickstart preload, all is good for about 3 - 4 seconds.  If i toggle xy or z they move fine but then after the 3 or 4 seconds, everything seemd to stop.  if i hold down say the page down key, the z that momentarily had moved fine, will now only click step at a time (if that even).  I know it sounds like i am rambling, i am very new in the world of cnc.  I have tried to change motor speeds etc, but that doesn't fix anything.  the problem is present even if i press the tab key and shuttle with the mouse.

please help if you can.

thanks in advance

ben

What is "quick start preload"  ?   I am not familiar with that.

What are your motor speeds, steps/in, & accelleration settings?

You might be in incremental jog mode.  The jog mode toggles between 3 settings, incremental, continious, and off.  incremental just moves a set amount for each press of the axis jog pushbutton.
