Title: Early Version of MAXNC Closed Loop System
Post by: Jerry Bradley on March 24, 2009, 03:41:07 PM
This is my first post on this forum, so hope this is the appropriate location. I have an early (1999) version of the close loop system which I am trying to get operating under Mach III.  This version required two bidirectiional printer ports and ran under DOS. Can anyone provide assistance? I can get some movement on some of the axes using the MAXNC-10 Wave Drive, but not with the Max CL Mode enabled boxes checked.

The users manual that came with the system is titled "MAXNC SRV-S. I am working with Chris at MAXNC, but he is not familiar with this version.

According to the manual, this is the structure:

Port Address 1 -- X&Y codes -- 278 Hex
Port Address 2 -- X encoder input -- 27A Hex
Port Address 3 -- Yencoder input -- 279 Hex
Port Address 4 -- Z&A codes -- 3BC Hex
Port Address 5 --  Z encoder input -- 3BE Hex
Port Address 6--  A encoder input -- 3BD Hex

Thanks,

Jerry

Mach is not closed loop so unless your hardware can close the loop and the encoder inputs are just for reference then you wont be able to use in closed loop. As far as connections go afraid I dont know anything about the MaxNC machines :(

Go to the ftp site, and under Extra Information, there are parallel port pinouts for the MaxNC.
