Title: DRO needed in mach sftwr

I know Mach's has DRO "on screen"
the question is:
can it be calibrated to be as reliable as a full fledged DRO kit? (without adding scales to the machine.)
I just finished building my CNC mill (no DRO) and just occur-ed to me Mach's may not be synonymous alternative

It can be done.. but you can only read at about 8Khz :(
