Title: Migrating from parallel port to SS
Post by: mikie on February 17, 2009, 02:33:38 AM
I loaded SS today on my laptop and connectivity is as expected (Setup is a per instruction manual)

Now, as my brain is in low gear most of the time, I think i have missed how SS works.

My current configuration for Mach3 is via the parallel port.
What is it that I need to do to get SS to work instead of the Parallel Port?

/Michael

Just connect the parallel cable(s) to the SS and configure a few things like frequency in the SS config and all should work fine :)

Hey Mike, I got mine to work, the mistake I was making was pretty embarrassing. I was counting the ribbin wires as 12345 etc

what is the advantage of using smooth stepper instead of the c11 bob with the parallel connection?. the usb smooth stepper does not support backlash comp. and there are many issues loosing communication, some of which i have begin to experience.
