Hello,
I'm new to cnc so please bear with me. I'm having trouble loading an elipse shape to mach 3. I have discovered how to display a true arc (without thye straight lines) but lazycam only uploads about a third of the full elipse. Even I think this sounds like a novice problem but can anyone help?
Best regards
John

John,
Can you possibly upload the LCAM and DXF files here so that someone can look at these for you?
Name them something weird like your screen name and some random numbers so forum will accept it.

Dave,
What's the code limitations of Mach and LazyCam and I also remember that if a circle or elipse is fragmented /
broken into small segments you get a lot of code and sometimes if it's loop it count's it like it's a lot of code.

Good question, Rich, I can not remember---- ???
Dave
EDIT: sorry, had a brain fart, I don't think there are any limitaions for LazyCam, you just won't get pocketing and offsetting without the Pro Version.

Dave,
Thanks for taking an interest. I've attached a LC file and the file LC produced to send to M3.
Thanks

Can you post the dxf, John?
Thanks,
Dave

Reason I ask you to post the dxf is because of the screenshot I'm getting of your elipse.
It's not very smooth at all.
What CAD are you using to draw?
Dave
-
Dave,
dxf attached
Thanks

Dave,
I'm using AutyoCad 2008 but saving the file in dxf ver 12

Dave,
that should read AutoCAD. sorry. The drawing seems to have good smoothing when opened in AutoCAd and in LC. Its just that you only get approx a third of the elipse in the mach 3 toolpath screen?

Is this how it looks in AutoCad to you, John?
I've tried loading into lazycam and but when I "clean" it, I get way too many extra circles.
Still playing with it.

Dave,
I think I've been wasting your time. The reason is that my version of LC is currently unregistered and it would seem these versions only accept 50 lines of code. If this is the case please accept my deepest apologies. :-[
Best regards

lol, no problem but I had some trouble with your file anyway.
Try these, as they may work for you. No tools were used.

Dave,
Whatever you did it works great. Could you let me know how?
Thanks again

Make sure youve at least registered the software but also try setting your connection tolerance (in red) to something like .010 and then click the clean button.
