Title: Need Help with Pokey & Mach
Post by: kencor1 on October 21, 2008, 06:22:46 PM
I need help setting up a button input in mach3. I want to set up an external reset button with Pokeys. I have the updated plugin for mach and I have the current version updated in the pokeys board.  I have enabled pin 13 on the pokeys board as an input. In mach I have set up port 10 input 13 in the ports and pins setup, in the mach hotkeys setup I have set trigger 13 to oem code 1021. Please tell me if I have done something wrong. Nothing happens when I press the button. I bring up the pokey diag menu in mach and it does not show anything happening when I press the button. If someone could please help me with this one input setup the rest will be easy.

Thanks,
Tom

Hi!

Are you using 1.9 version of PoKeys software and latest Mach plugin? They are both on www.poscope.com
Did you saved configuration to PoKeys device?

regards

Boris

You need to set the OEM Trigger in ports and Pins to Port 10 Pin 13, as you seem to like the number 13 ;) it is the Oem Trig 13 you need to set to that port and pin number. If that is what you have done then it should work fine presuming you have the switch wired properly (Pin 13 on pokeys, through switch to ground pin)

Thanks for the reply Hood.  I have the current versions installed, the switch is wired correctly I know because before I hooked it up to mach I was able to use it to launch a program when I was playing with it when I 1st got it.  Do you know if in the plugin control menu, pokeys dialog, when I press the button hooked up to the input should it show in the window that is is active?

Thanks,
Tom

It should show the state of it and the state should change when you press it.

I forgot to mention that I am also using the smooth stepper. One other question, Do I need to somehow enable port 10 in Mch somehow?

SS shouldnt be a problem, and no you dont have to enable port 10.
If you want attach your xml and I will check you have the pins set correctly, if you do then it at least eliminates that.

It is now working.  I guess that I need to have the updated pokeys55 software on the computer that has Mach on it.  Originally when I updated the Pokeys board I did it on a different computer then brought it out to the Machine computer it would not work, so updated the pokeys55 software on the machine computer, launched the pokeys55 software, launched Mach and wha la it was working. I then closed mach, closed pokeys55, relaunched mach and it is still working. Thank you to everyone for your quick response and help. I could not have figured it out on my own.

Thanks, Again

Tom, did you enable the new plugin? if not maybe you will be restricted to the older functions ie no analogue or encoder inputs.
Maybe the  software somehow enabled it but I cant see how.

Hood, the plug in that I have enabled is .42 is that not the current plugin? That is the one I downloaded today, and when I open the plugin configure menu there is only the 1 pokeys plugin in the menue.  Also it seems that the only way to get Mach to work with pokeys is if I have pokeys55 launched and open before I launch Mach. Is this normal?

Thanks,
Tom

OK well your xml seemed to show the older plugin enabled when I loaded it here, and no you shouldnt have to have the software opened, I certainly didnt have to.

Hood, its weird if I launch pokeys55, click connect, close pokeys55, launch Mach all works great. But if I then close Mach and restart mach with out launching pokeys55, then pokeys will not work.  The only way I can get the pokeys board to work with mach is if I launch and connect with pokeys55 then launch Mach.  Is it just me or are there others out there that it works the same way.  I guess its not a big deal to have to launch pokesy55 1st then Mach, but if there is a way to fix this could someone please let me know?

Thanks,
Tom

I'm having the same problem with the analog inputs on mine.  I'm sure they will fix that when Art gets back.
