Title: cutting order and chain selection problem
Post by: alex850 on September 13, 2008, 05:25:48 PM
1. i have lazy cam 3 just downloaded a week ago , problem i am haveing is when i import a dxf file that has 12 of the same parts with 10 holes to be drilled in each, i selct the inside chain in the project window and it selects all of the holes no problem, but it will select some outside chains too.why is it doing this?
2. how do i get the holes to be cut on one part completely before it goes to the next part,it is jumping back and forth from part to part instead of finishing one and moveing to the next?

thanks alex

Alex, have you watched the vidoes for LazyCam? One of them explains how to move chains around to put them in an order that you want them to cut.

You reorder them in the left window by dragging them up or down.

Hope this helps-  :)

thanks dave . i saw the video. i was wondering when you select the circles for drilling , it would also grab a couple of unwanted chains. i think it has something to do with the drawing comeing from auto cad.

thanks alex

Actually that may be where you have to change your "connection tolerance" .

It's in RED under the extents tab.

Try lowering the value in that box and that could very well help separate the circles from the other unwanted entities.

Help, anyone?

Lcam actually numbers the chains in a reasonable cuting order...yet no use of auto-clean of optrimize actually puts them in that order.

Eg, I want to cut chain 0, then 1, then 2...Lcam already numbered them right yet refuses to use that cut order??
(without a lot of dragging)

Is this a bug or am I missing a function somewhere?

I actually agree with most of the numbering Lcam does on the chains so it seems odd it won't actually cut in that order if it already figured it out.

Thanks

Rich, Lcam cuts in the project order from top to bottom(;-) IF the optimize does not suite you then simply reorder them. Lcam makes decisions based on ITS logical order progression.

So far here it has worked very well all things considered . I have used many TOPdog CAMs MasterCam,SurfCam,SolidCam,etc and Lcam aint bad for what it is.

AS with ALL CAMs there is usually a very steep learning curve to learn HOW the CAM thinks, (;-)

Hi, Britishrich

You need to click on the chain on the left and drag it to the top or wherever you want it, See pic.
