Title: Compumotor Clock/Dir same as Step/Dir
Post by: Overloaded on April 18, 2008, 08:49:45 AM
Greetings,
Looking at a Parker drive and wondering if this will accept step/dir from Mach ?
Looks like the polarity needs to reverse for dir ? ? ? Not sure.
If anyone could verify/explain ?
Thanks,
RC

Certainly looks the same as step/direction just that  they are just differential, if you look at your lower pic you will see there is only 1 Clock and 1 Direction input.
Make sure it is 5V signals its wanting, some drives want 24v Step/Dir.
Other names for Step/Dir  that I have seen are Step/Signal and pulse/signal.

So...to use this drive, I would need to supply the DS8830. It is not on the unit.
Thanks Hood,

yes, or similar or you could get the breakout board from Ed at www.cncbuildingblocks.com it puts out differential step/dir, thats what I have for the drives I use, they can take either single or differential inputs but differential is much more immune to noise problems.
