Title: Newbee here with a question about tool offsets.
Post by: thetgarey on February 25, 2008, 09:22:11 PM: Trying to develop the g-code to do the gear teeth shown in the details attached.

Problem is when I set the tool to a 1/16 (.0625 dia.) end mill and the connection tolerance to .001 (or any other value), LazyCam refuses to cut the area between the teeth; it wants to skim over the individual tooth tops. In the cad file I’ve measured the distance between the teeth to be .114; that should be plenty of room for the cutter to offset between two teeth.

Interesting thing is if I ask it to offset it on the inside instead of the outside it has no problem creating the chain.
What am I missing here?

Post your dxf use the REPLY button then Additional Options and attach.

put this move on it,scale your drawing up 4x1 use a .250 tool then scale back to size.

I didn't pay attention to your second pic, LazyCam sometimes gets the in-outs backwards, Using LC 3.00.2 hear and in-outs are correct.

As long as the path is proper it should post it that way.
