Post by: johannes on July 13, 2025, 03:56:55 PM
Hi Everyone, I am new at this.
I build my own cnc and having some problem that started happening recently. When I cut a project my mouse freeze completely but still finish the cut.and what it also do is stop start sometimes it finish the job sometime not.
All My sensor cables are shielded my motor wires is shielded all cables are earthed and but not to pc. I Got a 3 axis CNC router using windows XP 4 gig ram 3 GHZ speed. I did swap te mouse no change. I got mach 3 R3.043.066. The only other bit that is not shielded is the power to the Spindle motor it is a DC motor running from a relay.
Can anyone please help USB MACH3 Motion Controller Card USB MACH3 100Khz Breakout Board CNC Controller Card for Stepper Motor Driver, stepper Driver DM860A, Stepper Motor Model 57A2
Can Someone please help.
Regards
Johannes

Check your PC (Device Manager) to make sure that your USB Input Devices do not allow them to be turned off under the Power Management option.

Hi Tweakie
Thank you very much for the information. I am not sure in windows XP if you can Set the usb port to always on.
I disconnected the spindle motor and run the cut again without spindle and everything work ok when spindle is disconnected.
Any ideas. the spindle power supply come from the same 230 volt as al the other power supplies and all are earthed together maybe it should haave it's own supply and earth.
please advise?

I have no experience of using DC spindle motors so all I can say is try it and see if it cures the issue.

Hi
I manage to find out that it is my spindle motor messing up my usb port.
the machine will move smoothly until I turn the spindle on then it stop start and come up with a usb error message.
I installed a new spindle motor a new power supply for the Spindle motor and also installed a new usb controller for the cnc and it still cause problems.
Can someone please help?
