Title: Sudden change to X axis scaling
Post by: GregM on August 29, 2024, 08:27:36 AM
I've been running a router on MACH 3 for nearly 10 years with no problems, suddenly the X axis is scaled 101% for no obvious reason.
e.g. if I enter G0X600 it goes to 606mm.
It's totally repeatable and can be countered by setting the steps/mm down from 200 to 198.1
But something has clearly happened and I'd like to get to the bottom of it.
I've rolled back the XML file with no change.
I've been through every menu I can find and there's no hint at a scaling factor being set.
It's running on an XP machine which is completely isolated so no updates etc, and uses a parallel port interface.
It seems to have happened after a blue screen but that's happened occasionally as it does with any PC and has never caused a problem before.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled Mach3 form the original installer, using the original xml and other files supplied with the machine, no change.
There's nothing mechanically wrong with the axis.
Unfortunately I can't swap the X and Y motors as an experiment as I have dual Y leadscrews.
I really don't know where to go form here short of swapping to another PC.
