Title: ref all home problem
Post by: R_Ball on July 11, 2023, 09:23:51 AM
Hey Guys
I'm looking for a little help. I'm pretty much finished building my 3 axis cnc router. I've got my steppers all set up properly I think, I'm sure there be some fine tuning once I start cutting. I'm having a hell of a time trying to get ref all and homing thing going. When I hit the ref all it starts with the y axis activates the switch and stops. I believe its suppose to bounce off it and start the next axis. So I have Mach3 USB and  2 limit switches on each axis, they are all connected to input #1 on the board. In ports and pins I have +,-,and home on all 3 axis enabled to port 3 and pin 1. So hit 1 and they all light up in Diagnostics but they work. Is this were my problem is? I'm wondering.
Also the zero buttons are not the same Y is red, X is red, Z green
I've come a long way, just seeing the motors move brings a smile to my face, cant wait to get it cutting
So thanks in advance any and all help would be greatly appreciated
Have a great day

I would start by putting a value of 500 in the de-bounce box in general config and see if it helps, if it works then you can reduce the value until it fails and then pick a value 10% above.

Disable limits in ports and pins and see if it will home.

Hey Graham
So I turned off the limit switches and the ref home does nothing. I can set and go to zero fine

What breakout board/motion controller are you using?

It might be best to have the home switches on a separate input wired normally closed in series and forget the limit switches for now.  Limit switches are usually wired through the e-stop circuit.  So you would have 3 switches per axis.

I hope you are not using the pirate Mach3 & licence file that they provide!!

If you are then get rid and download the demo version from the web site, remove and replace then start setup again.

We do not usually help people that use this type of board due to the piracy issue.

hey Graham
I didnt know there was a  pirated version out there
my board came with the 4 motor kit I bought off of Alibaba Express I think , god it was a long time ago now
I followed the download and installation advice from BuildyourCNC on youtube. It brings you here to download and that's what I've done
I havnt purchased my license yet as I figured it made more sense to to setup on the demo and make sure board and everything is working before I shell out the money, seeing as how there are many controller options
Being an honorable man set aside, the fact that I am such a newbee at this I want and need all the technical support and advice I can get, a pirated version is not an option. Are you saying that I might not get that based on my choice of board
