Title: PWM bumped to minimum setting
Post by: theliadir on December 28, 2022, 12:10:41 PM
Hello

CnC and Mach3 newbie here.
I am contrlling my spindle with the 0-10 Volt signal.
When I try to turn on my spindle either in mach3 oder with gcode the system stop with the error: PWM Bumped to minium setting.

If someone could have a look at my xml and maybe point a if there is any bad settings it would help me a lot.

Thanks in advance.

you will have to select a pin and port (Spindle step output) for your PWM output you are using.

but PWM is not a 0-10V signal.

The output should be defined.
As far as I know my hardware should output a 0-10 Volt PWM signal to the frequency converter.
But I am no expert and could be wrong.

I retried a couple of times today with the documentation of the hardware and kinda got it working.
Got a new issue, but it has nothing to do with what I posted.

Thanks for your reply and help. :-)

some more informations about your hardware and some photos would be helpfull.

a PWM signal is not 0-10V. PWM is allways a signal witch goes low and high (high normaly 5V),
only the relation between low and high (pulselength) defines the change.

I managed to generate this message today.
I have just finished setting up the router again after a year in storage and a cross country move.
This is a PMDX system,
PMDX-126 Breakout Board w/PMDX-107 Isolated Speed Controller and an ESS.
I am controlling a HY02D223B TY I VFD.
I have tested the spindle run/direction and rpm previously with no problems.

I was using one of the wizards to generate some g-code, the message appeared when I attempted to run the program.
I don't recall which one, no sense going there.
It shouldn't really matter as machine related action should be managed by the Mach 3 settings.

but PWM is not a 0-10V signal
I will have to disagree with that statement.

With the vfd being used  uses 0-10 volts at a given frequency  to control spindle rpm if the correct parameters are set in the vfd.

Yea you are controlling voltage by controlling the on time compared to the off time thus creating a voltage value form 0 max voltage making a digital signal analog.

"Base frequency" if too high means you cannot run the at a lower speed (RPM) than allowed.
Spindle will be bumped  to run at a higher RPM than your g-code S settings. So the message is just informational.
By setting my "Base frequency" to 33Hz and I can make my WATER-COOLED spindle to run at 1000 RPM minimum. But Air-cooled spindle must be restricted to a min RPM of 8,000
