Title: Absolute encoders homing
Post by: bredk on September 17, 2022, 12:35:53 AM
Dear experts!

I am building a CNC using Mach4, EtherCAT servos from Automation Technologies using the VSI EC breakout - and I have all the motors working great (after a long road).

My servos have absolute encoders with battery backup and I was wondering how it's might be possible to home my CNC to a position using these?

Ideally I would just jog the machines to the preferred home positions, read the hardware position and tell mach4 that every time I press home, it goes to this position and marks it as homed.

Any help is much appreciated! Thank you!

i also use absolute but not ethercat ,we read the value with rs485 by our application ,and homing we make as "at position"
what you ask i think its the origin like g54 g55... not home
