Hi!
i get some daily trouble with my retrofit.
all works but the turret have RED DAYS
Problem:
i done my retrofit first without the turret.
for Spindle index, homing x and z i use hallic called 44e.
all works correct.
the i convert the turret to a nema17 stepper and a hallic 44e for reference/homing point.
the homeing position is on a point where the pawl is in contact and secured. its tool1.
i done all on the desk with parallelport.
it works everytime correct.
then i connect all to the ess.
and now? the homing dont work.
nothing is changed on mechanic,electric,wiring.
the homing travel less.
and get not in contact.
if i changed to parallelport... it works.
back to ess.. pawl not in contact.
i only loose my parallelport cable and put it in the socket from the pc or ess.
it takes second.
i only open mach3 with parallelport or ess. all settings are the same.
any idea? for me it sounds that i must config something on the ess.
thanks for help..

nobody a idea??
my solution is to use a optical sensor like light barrier with a disc and a slot.
this weekend i would check.
but i think the problem is not the sensor .. is it a setting in mach3 or in the ess plugin??
thanks

Have you got a common ground between the PC, ESS, and Machine? if not you may be getting spurious signals
-
yes all are groundee together.
my idea:
i power the hall ic via parallelport when use parallelport.
but with the ess i power the hall ic with a 5v source which is the same as for the ess.
i dont know but i think the magnetfield/range changes.
its a idea.. but i am not sure.

Is it only the sensor on the turret that is not working, are all the axis moving as they should?
How big is the PSU (Watts/Amps) for the 5V
-
good morning
yes all works correct.
1A 5V.
i think i will today change today to a lightbarrier. the magnet is glued to a brass disc. the brass disc is screwed to the shaft of the turret.
or must i config something on the ess?
thanks

after some testing i got the reason.
the magnet is glued to a brass disc.
this brass disc is in a distance of 3mm to the shaft of the turret.
and now?
i looked to the bill of the magnets i bought.
this magnets are samarium cobalt sm2co17 magnets with and they are axial!
size 3mm diameter 1mm long.
holding power 250gramms.
250gramms?! i checked this with a spring balance.
ok... the 250gramms are right.
then i loose the glue... turn arround the magnet.. the magnet holds without glue..ook..
after 3 hours waiting i take off the magnet and the brass disc.
then i start homing my a-axis... without the magnet.
whats happend? it homes correct.. without magnet.
this tell me:
the magnets are so strong that the magnet load some magnetism to the spindle and let the homing failed.
i cross test it again... i take a mini torch and heat the area on the spindle.
then i start again homing...and? no homing..
result:
the magnet loads some magnetfield and the ref/home position got a offset.
magnet must be low power or.... a lightbarrier..or a proxi switch.
1 week take this to find the failure...
thanks to all
