Hi everyone,
My new screetset (DarkScreen) ready to for use.
Designed for wide screens. Native resolution 1920x1080.
Please extract zip file to Mach3\ main folder.
For best view:
1. Uncheck "Boxed DRO's and Graphics" on menu Config / General Config / Screen Control
2. Set Toolpath background color : "Red = 0.14", "Green = 0.14", "Blue = 0.14" on menu Config / Toolpath / Colors

It's a very nice screenset. Thank you for sharing. But I have a problem using it. When I use the keyboard keys to jog, the axis runs away. It does this on all axis. Any ideas what could cause this?
Thanks!

Hello Fusion. I don't fully understand the problem. Can you post the problem with a video

Hi graphicer,
Here is a video of my Mill with the normal mach3 screen.
https://youtu.be/Ke-tmPNNuRE (https://youtu.be/Ke-tmPNNuRE)
When I press the jog keys, it moves. When I release the key, it stops.
With DarkScreen, when I press the key it moves even after the key is released. It runs away.
It also switched axis of the keys.
Here is a video:

Thanks for your help!

Thanks for video.
Very interesting. It works smoothly for me.
Please send your "System HotKeys Setup" window screenshot. On menu "Config/System Hotkeys"
And "General Logic Configuration" window on menu "Config/General Config"
-
Here are images of my config settings.
Thanks!
-
Hi Mike
I remove shortcut keys on screenset.
Please try this screenset file.
I hope system shortcuts work.
-
Hi graphicer,
I tried it. Now the jog keys do nothing.
Thanks!
Mike
-
Hi again..
I haven't quite solved the problem, but I found a workaround for you.
Screenset hotkeys and system hotkeys must be the same.
I have defined your system shortcut keys to the screenset.
Please try it again...

Thank you so much!!!!
It works great now!!

Hey Graph..
Thanks for your work and sharing.
I came looking for a screen specific to waterjets mach. but I found none.
I will see if I can make this work.
Also, I noticed that your images are .PNG but I think mach3 Images are all .JPG
Is there something I need to change in the Mach3 files, like html or VB etc. ??
Thanks

Hi Anthrop.
PNG images are better quality than JPG images. For this reason, I preferred PNG images.
You can use machscreen to create a screenset.
It is not very difficult to use.
No need to change any HTML file or any other file.
You can open the default mach3 screenset with the Machscreen program and change it as you wish.
-
Thanks for the reply Graph
Well, I have not used the machscreen but I will.
Yes I know that PNG is much better than JPG (not quite as good as vector file, but much better)
But When starting Mach3 doesn't it look for and load the known files, like JPG ??
I seems to me, that I would have to edit the start up files and change the file name extensions to PNG from JPG. But actually I don't know how Mach3 is setup.
I know you have to do that if you make changes in HTML web files. in order for HTML to load different images, media files, etc. like I change JPG to PNG pics but then I have to edit the HTML code and change extensions.
Also, I saw you using google translate. What Country are you in? I'm in Los Angeles, Ca.

Hey all,
I have been using Darkscreen ver 1.0.1 and like it very much, a big thanks to Graphicer82. I am attempting to update to Ver 1.0.3 mostly for the new Large tool path screen. I have not been able to update it and was hoping someone could help ne out.

what's wrong with updating ?
-
After downloading and installing these two files "DarkScreen_v1.0.3" and "DarkScreenBigToolpath" from the Mach3 forum my Mach3 screen still shows ver 1.0.2 and the buttons for selecting the Large tool path are not there. The DarkScreen_v1.0.3 file is a .RAR and I don't really know what file to copy that to. The previous update that you posted were .zip files. I will try and include the files I downloaded with this post but I have to rename them slightly to get them to attach.
-
Got it, once I figured out what a .RAR file was I downloaded the required zip extractor and all is well. Thanks again for a great screen set.

Hi Graphicer82,
First off, thanks for the great screenset. My coworkers really like it too.
I have a few questions:
-When I "Ref All Home", the green indicators do not stay lit like my previous stock screenset. Is this normal? Is there a way I can have them remain green until home is lost (turning them red)?
-My X/Y/Z GoTo Position values have many leading zeros like this: 0000.0000 (have you seen this before?)
-Last question. I'd love to have my FLOOD button replaced with VAC (I'm on a CNC router). I was going to photoshop your Flood button, which font did you use?
I will be updating my Mach 3 shortly, I'll see if the new copy has the same behavior with your screenset.
Thanks again,
Jason

Hi,
Sorry for a naive question...but is there any reason when I try and load the Darkscreen Screenset, not all of the screen will actually load?
Not sure if there's some other instructions I'm missing, besides copying the .set file to the Mach3 Folder.

Take a look at some earlier posts. It's actually a zip file with a folder called bitmaps and the .set file inside. You may have downloaded one of the latest updates which is only the .set file (update assumes you already had the .zip files from the early posts already installed).
You'll need to copy the contents of the bitmaps folder to your mach 3 directory. You'll see an existing bitmaps folder in there for other default screensets. The buttons are all pictures that reside in that folder.

Hi does anyone have probleme with in\out signals. I get only half screen of signals on my monitor. Then i need to draw the frame to the left to see all off signals. Is this any settings to make. Or maybe wrong screen resulution. Thanks.
-
Love the screen set thanks for your hard work, I have added a button for Auto X/Y/Z probing as Its becoming a common thing for people to use, not sure if your interested on including it.
-
I have downloaded both files but the actual menu shows up large and some of the buttons are on top of each other. I cant seem to find a way to correct this. Screen is 1920x1080.
-
Great work !
I really like this Screenset.
Just returning to CNC world and this could be my screenset of choice.
Thanks

Hi again folks. Very rusty on screensets so appreciate some guidance please.
Really a fan of this screenset design but have stumbled across a few issues that others reported so have listed them below to hopefully resolve if possible.
1. Any Config / System Hotkey settings I set are ignored. It seems they are hard fixed in the screenset? Can this be changed so the Config / System Hotkeys are used?
2. Pressing the Arrow keys to move X and Y works fine. But pressing the Page Up / Page Down results in the Z axis not stopping movement so I have to hit Estop. This is reported in the thread here but not explained how to solve.
3. Using the Arrow keys to move X and Y works fine however when I Press Shift and the arrow keys it does not go to the faster jog speed movement. It does not recognise I have pressed the Shift Key for faster movement.
4. When I "Ref All Home", the green indicators do not light up like on the standard 1024.Set (Reported in Thread)
5. In Offsets page My X/Y/Z GoTo Position valuess change to many leading zeros like this: 0000.0000 (Reported in Thread)
If I could resolve these findings It would be appreciated.
Thanks for any help.
-
Hi graphicer82,
I have now resolved my findings above and continue to use this excellent screenset.
One finding that will need correcting is an error on the ADD button used on the function for Y and Z. (GET ADD GO) function
The Y and Z ADD buttons are using code that calls the X axis.
Code "G1 X" &Position
Thanks.

Hi all,
Big thanks to Graphicer82 for the DarkScreen screenset. I can now see how much time must go into making screensets.
He's not been about since January so I've had a go at fixing the ADD Y and ADD Z myself. They seem to be working now.
Also I've slightly widened the DROs next to those buttons.
-
Hi to everyone! I just installed the latest update of the screen. However. I'm not able to find regen. screen button. There is a large screen, follow jog and display mod. But how am I supposed to refresh the screen? Thanks in advance.
-
I also tried to modify the screen with Machscreen, but it says that the SET file is corrupted. Any ideas on how to add regen. toolpath button?
-
We used to have under settings screen Rotation Radius, I cannot find? when tried to use the Radius C under A axis, I could not as it is not accessible. Or may be the CNC has to be connected to do so, not sure!
-
Folks,
I have been adapting this screenset for my own use and added most of the features the original Mach screens had that are missing. In addition some added probing features.
I'm reluctant to release without the permission of graphicer82. I've tried P.M and email without response.
Attached images to show development. It's now finished as I'm no longer using Mach 3.
If anyone has contact details for graphicer82 and he agrees, I'll share the screenset.
Thanks
SantiniUK

Just installed your V3 screen, and like it. But I am having a jog direction issue. The nomenclature on the buttons is correct. X- moves my table in the X- direction. BUT, I don't look at the -/+ symbols. I use the arrows direction to move table that direction. My pendant "labeling" is backwards too, always has been, but right arrow I've always had move my table to the right. If it was a router table, then ya I'd move the tool right or left. But this Mill, I move table and it's confusing me. I've tried changing the Hotkeys, where that works to move table correct direction, now my Mill Co ordinates move wrong way. Just the X and Y are backwards
-
And I just seen that on tool change, my Z goes beyond safe height and crashes into limit. Gives warning it's higher than Z but still goes up. Works fine with the stock Mach screen. Safe Z is in Machine Coord.
-
Another thinng I see, my Machine DRO for X and Y is backwards from the work DRO. ie, if machine coordinates are moving positive, Work is moving negative
-
Look very nice and love the functionality
-
Hi friends.
I already install V.1.0.3x versin but Ican´t find the way I could see the diagnostic screen and Setting screen as original Mach3 screen. Could you help me. Thanks
-
Salut,
merci beaucoup pour le partage.
svp je l'ai installé, mais il apparait tres grand et certains boutons apparaissent à moitié, que faire ?
Thank you so much for sharing.
please I installed it, but it appears very big and some buttons appear halfway, what to do?
-
Hi,
I've been using this screen for a while and it's really great! Recently, however, I changed the controller from the USB version to ETHERNET and a strange error appeared on the Z axis. When the Z reaches HOME, it stops for a moment and then goes further up. It stops on other screens and doesn't go any further.
Anyone had such a problem?
-
If anyone is interested, here are images of my adaptation of graphicer82's DarkScreen 1.0.3
This took quite a bit of time and almost all of the pages and buttons/LEDs had to be recreated in order to incorporate the LEDs into the buttons.
Thanks again graphicer for your excellent work!
-
The rest of them...
-
Oops, wrong Shortcuts screen, here's the right one.
Also, the Program Run page of the Inch version of the screen set (blue DROs vs Green for MM version).
-
Geez, I need more coffee!
-
Excellent work.
After all that I would need BEER - coffee is just not enough ;)
Tweakie.

lol.
Believe me, beer was an integral part of the process...

Hi Martin,
Thanks. I hesitate to distribute it without Graphicer's permission. If you can get his permission, I'd be glad to post the files. It doesn't appear that he's visited this thread for quite a while though...

Hi Dotyman
I've sent graphicer82 a message telling him about your additions and asking him for permission so you can share files. I don't have much hope though. He hasn't logged in for over 2 years.
I think he would be fine with you sharing.
Think of it this way, he has already freely shared his work. You will be just sharing your additions. As long as you add a readme, crediting graphicer82 as the original creator, a link to this thread and maybe a list of changes and additions you have made. Call it Dotyman's DarkScreen fork/version. :)
-
He should get a notification of your post. Hopefully he will respond soon.
Let me know if you hear from him. If you don't hear back within a week or so, let me know.

Martin is absolutely right.
I could not reply to messages for a long time due to the covid19 epidemic and the intensity of my work.
When I got Martin's e-mail, I felt compelled to reply.
As Martin said, I made this screenset for myself, but I want everyone to benefit.
I don't have time to develop it, but I'm happy that Dotyman has updated Darkscreen and I would love for Dotyman to share it.

OK, thanks Graphicer. I'll put together a package with the screens, macros, and the other folders/files needed to use the screen set. I'll also provide some guidance on where everything goes. Look for it to be posted soon!
Dotyman
-
Great news!
Big thanks to Graphicer82 and Dotyman :)
-
OK, here's the full set of files you'll need to install and the latest DarkScreen adaptation.
Place these files/folders inside your Mach3 folder. Where the folder is a duplicate of an existing folder in your installation, just place the contents of the folder inside the existing folder.
As always, USE THIS SCREEN SET AT YOUR OWN PERIL. I take no responsibility for the installation, implementation or use of these files. Please proceed with caution, and check the underlying code (button script and/or macro) for potential issues before you use it.
Also, it will take several posts to fully upload everything.
That said, enjoy!
-
Looks like only one post was needed, so you should be all set.
If you have any questions, let me know although I don't have much available time I'll try to get back to you as soon as I can.
Thanks,
Dotyman

Hi,
I just found an error in the MM version of the screen set that I sent out (fixture names don't update correctly). I'll post the fix in the morning...
-
Here's the fix. Replace the MM 01 version of the .set file with this MM 01a version.
Sorry!
-
Finally had some time to install it and have a go. So far everything is great! Thanks Dotyman
-
Glad you like it so far. I'm still tweaking some things.
You'll probably want to adjust some things yourself since it's pretty customized for my machine.
Take care,
Dotyman

Hello at all,
Thanks for sharing this great UI.
It's looking much better than the 1024 UI.
Question:
You spend so much time in building good looking Backgroud-Pictures.
But: How do I have to set up MACH3 that the Background-Picture is displayed without scaling?
I always get some bad looking . (I think it is form scaling the Background***.png Pictures)
-
Hi Kissling,
Sorry, I'm no longer working on that project. However, I will tell you that I had to rescale the backgrounds using Photoshop to natively fit my relatively low resolution Lenovo all-in-one PC on my mill. I used a combination of Photoshop, Illustrator and Machscreen to design/create/modify all of the other graphics in the UI.
I would try adjusting the UI in Machscreen since you can adjust the placement of the graphics/buttons/LEDs/DROs if necessary.
I hope that helps.
Good luck!

Hello Dotyman, I really like your interface, but the "SHORTCUTS" don't work, right? I'm trying to load a new G-Code with "CTRL + L" and it doesn't work...
Greetings.
-
Hi JoeBar,
Shortcuts should work, just make sure you're on the appropriate screen/page. I just checked and the CTRL +L works to load a G-code file on my PC as long as I'm on the PROGRAM page in Mach.
Hope that helps!

Hi Ian,
Make sure you have all of the graphics files stored in the C:Mach3\Bitmaps\DarkScreenBitmaps folder.
