Title: Font Islands
Post by: Rogeman on March 11, 2017, 01:52:57 PM
Is there an easy way to leave fonts as islands, similar to making a number plate as found on steam Locomotives?

Not sure what you mean but perhaps you are talking about relief machining as per attached copy I found on the web. In your CAM software you should be able to select the areas around the letters and create "pockets" so you letters can stand out like "Islands"

Thanks for your reply, yes that is what I had in mind.
I had hoped that there may be a way of doing it  other than Using Cam.
Looks as though I will have to go that route.

Thanks again

Check out F-Engrave. It is free and the video on inlay describes the type of engraving you are describing http://www.scorchworks.com/Fengrave/fengrave.html
