Please don't yell at me! ;D ;D
I have looked at 30 or more posts on steps per inch, just when I think I've got , I am confused again!
1.8deg motors is 200 steps/rev...microstepping makes this 2000 steps/rev.
3mm belt and 20t pulley = .11811 inches (3mm) per tooth * 20 teeth = 2.362inches/rev
2000 microsteps / 2.362 = 846.74 pulses/inch
Do I have it right..
Thanks...

Hi Leveresole,
sounds right to me. I take it your table/tool or whatever is attached direct to the belt? No leadscrews?

Yes! Leadscrew on the Z...
I just tonite changed from the TinyG controller to Mach3...I am loving it, playing with the X,Y, and X, have not cut anything yet...next step is to hook up my touch plate...then tomorrow, the limits, and I should be good to go!

Hi Leversole,
obviously with a leadscrew on z axis settings will be different to your xy settings. Sounds like you are cutting thru the confusion.

Thanks Joe...yeah, did the calcs on the z-screw...actually wired up the touch probe and did a test cut of just a few vCarved letters, all is well!
the xBox controller is freaking awesome!!! I spent an hour just jogging the machine around with the xBox joysticks!!

Hi,
that's great, its a lot of fun when it starts coming together but don't worry there is still plenty of time
