Title: Spindle stops rotating durring program run
Post by: wade16 on October 19, 2014, 06:01:42 PM
I have had the Spindle stop rotating durring program run twice. I can restart the spindle, but what would cause it to shut off while making a very light cut? I ran the same program all yesterday with no such problem. Any ideas are appreciated. My machine is a SYIL X3 conversion using Mach3.

I have noticed the spindle stops when I run it at about 1900 to 2100 RPM. It will restart immediately, but will shut down after a couple minutes. If I run the spindle at about 1500 RPM, it will run all day. Is there some overload sensor that shuts the spindle off if it detects vibration or strain? Is there a control board inside the head that may be flakey?

From memory the X3 spindle controller has an overload sensor which does shut it down - perhaps, in your case, it is being a little over sensitive ?

Is there any adjustment for it? Can it be replaced? If so, where would I locate one?
