Hello All
I am trying to integrate a Smooth Stepper / G540 / PMDX-126. I understand the G540 is its own breakout board but I just want to use it as a motor driver. I spoke with PMDX and they said it was possible to get this to work by (I think) hooking up the G540 to PMDX-126 (J19). Smooth Stepper Port1 to PMDX Port 1 and Smooth Stepper Port 2 to PMDX Port 2. I am not sure what I am doing wrong but I just cannot get it to work. I am pretty sure I am missing some things in ports and pins and maybe some other things in Parallel Port / Smooth Stepper settings. Any advice / detailed instructions / Application Notes would be greatly appreciated. I have wasted well over 40 hours trying to figure this out when I am pretty sure there is a simple solution. I am about to give up and call it a day, which I really don’t want to do. Please advise

Yes, the G540 has its own BOB built in. Trying to feed it with another BOB is a recipe for disaster. Just run Port 1 from ESS to G540 and use Port 2 and Port 3 for the PMDX-126.

a quick question about the ess smooth stepper , I'm running a g540 as well and I have used all the pins for the plasme settings Torch up Torch down ect for the torch height control. my question is can I just buy another breakout board and plug the DB25 into say port 2 of the smooth stepper so that I can add homming and limit switches?
