Title: Trouble getting a smooth cut
Post by: Grumpy on January 02, 2014, 03:50:34 PM
I don’t  know if this is a SceetCam or a Mach 3 question. I am having a problem with cuts not being smooth. As a example if I cut a 6 inch circle you get stepping of the table as it is making the cut leaving marks in the work piece This appears to be a happing in both the  X & Y axis   ( by stepping I mean the table is jerking as it make the cut ) There are some pieces that I cut where part of a cutout will be smooth and some will have this stepping.

The motor tuning is as follows
      Steps / min   20054
      Velocity      60
      Acceleration    15
      Step Pulse   0
      Drive Pulse   0

I am using SceetCam and Mach3 any help you can give me with this problem would be greatly
appreciated

Your code looks reasonable but it is quite long so maybe there are parts that are bad, can you tell me which section you are having the problems with?
Also do the DROs in Mach show that jerking movement?

I have attached a picture of what the cut looks like Code line N33210 - N42020. It is the inside cutout layer of the drawing. Also the DRO's appear to be smooth

To me that looks like backlash/slop in an axis, ie the cutter is pulling and pushing the axis about.
