Hello have ben using Mach 3 for about six years now I think it's the greatest I built a 42 x 42 three axis router first then I built a little harbor freight 7 x 10 and now the latest I built is a 3-D printer I wanted it to be very reliable so it would run for days doing large prints reprap just didn't cut it mainly extruder for plastic just didn't seem reliable so I started and did design my own but of course it turned out to be very heavy so I had a build a very sturdy heavy duty machine the standard reprap electronics obviously would not work I needed large motors ballscrews linear rails that is my 3-D printer I call it the tank(http://i1333.photobucket.com/albums/w631/richard_nelson1/3d%20printer/DSCN0055_zps5b7442c7.jpg) (http://s1333.photobucket.com/user/richard_nelson1/media/3d%20printer/DSCN0055_zps5b7442c7.jpg.html)(http://i1333.photobucket.com/albums/w631/richard_nelson1/3d%20printer/DSCN0062_zps24b78027.jpg) (http://s1333.photobucket.com/user/richard_nelson1/media/3d%20printer/DSCN0062_zps24b78027.jpg.html)(http://i1333.photobucket.com/albums/w631/richard_nelson1/3d%20printer/DSCN0058_zps25b97a35.jpg) (http://s1333.photobucket.com/user/richard_nelson1/media/3d%20printer/DSCN0058_zps25b97a35.jpg.html)(http://i1333.photobucket.com/albums/w631/richard_nelson1/3d%20printer/IMG_78652_zps430c9120.jpg) (http://s1333.photobucket.com/user/richard_nelson1/media/3d%20printer/IMG_78652_zps430c9120.jpg.html)(http://i1333.photobucket.com/albums/w631/richard_nelson1/IMG_7884_zps1db17c89.jpg) (http://s1333.photobucket.com/user/richard_nelson1/media/IMG_7884_zps1db17c89.jpg.html)Two videos Two videos https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=108932639308726&l=439374382398743664 Two videos https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=108919115976745&l=8836569305644303332

Very Nice! How do you generate the G-code for the parts you make? Tell us more about how it works.

The software I use for slicing is called kisslicer is very economical and allows you to try it out similar what Mach3 does there are quite a few other ones that do the same thing but to me kisslicer is by far the best the process the machine uses is called FFM fused filament modeling or FDM fused deposition modeling is the same as the reprap only I needed a much stronger more reliable larger machine it is one of the tools I made to help me do prototypes at my job you can use a few different types of plastic the Yoda was done in ABS a quick dip in acetone and then painted 3-D STL files into kisslicer G code out I was a prototype technician or prototype engineer depending on what they wanted to call me that day

Oh that was Yoda, I was thinking it was Brett or his sister.
Hood

That's my Aunt Hood......... the one you had a crush on. Man, you are getting old if you can't remember that. ;D
Well Dick, it sure is a nice looking machine. It will be interesting to see what they make in the future as materials are developed. Great paint job on Yoda BTW. Great detail.

"There is no try, there is only do....", Brett, Hood your father he is.... *Yoda*

Wow. That's an impressive machine. Tell us more about it. The resolution, speed, max size etc.
Zafar

Zafar the machine is basically the same as reprap only larger and stronger the print area is 17" x 14" x 14" speeds during printing are anywhere between 50 mm a second 150 mm a second depending on the quality you want like I said I started design by building the extruder and hot and once I was satisfied with the reliability I built the machine to match the extruder eventually it will be totally enclosed it'll be quite warm inside probably somewhere around 60 C layer height is settable anywhere from .01 mm to .03 mm
