Title: PLEASE! Make it clear to a Sherline Lathe newbie! (Sketch-up > G-Code > Mach3)
Post by: TDR_Machining on February 23, 2013, 03:37:34 PM
Guys,

Let me tell you, there is a lot of information in this forum, but no straight forward answers concerning what I have going on and I need some enlightenment.

I want to go from Sketch-up to G-Code to Mach3 for my Sherline Lathe CNC.  I am very comfortable with Sketchup and I have the PRO version.

QUESTION 1 :: Should I use a 3D, or 2D graphic from Sketch-up?  If 2D, should it be DIAMETER or RADIUS? (see graphic below)

QUESTION 2 :: What is a good, affordable program that will generate G-Code from Sketch-up for a Lathe?
