Hello All,
Back in June I Built a CNC router made from plywood. I made the 30 x 50 work surface by creating a torsion box and topping it with a piece of white melamine. The lead screws and lead nuts are .625" 10 TPI and I purchased them from Roton.com. I used 1.25" aluminum angle and sealed 608 ball bearings for the linear rail system. The stepper motors, drives, power supply, breakout board and relay board were all purchased from Probotix.com. I am running 32 bit Windows 7 and using a wireless X-Box controller for my jog box. And finally I found a used Renishaw MP8 wireless probe for creating 3D point clouds. Total investment, including Mach 3, Vectric V-carve pro, and my bare-bones PC from tigerdirect.com, was around $3000.
The Mach 3 has proven to be very good software. It made my router build a lot easier to complete.
My router is my own personal design, However - I did a ton of research online before the build. So -Thank You- to all that have gone before me and smoothed the path to a successful router build.

Hi David,
I commend you on your skills, ability and frugal approach ... BRAVO !
Your "natural" engineering would most likely have greater structural integrity than some of the all metal designs I have seen.
Job well done.

Hi David,
Nice job - certainly a bit of sturdy construction. Thanks for showing us your build.
Tweakie.

Great job! I enjoy making things frugally too; it's very satisfying as well as keeping peace with 'er indoors!
One suggestion though: get some nice machine grey paint on it. Not only will it look better but it'll reduce the wood's tendency to expand & contract with humidity changes.

Nice job David! I don't recall ever seeing a ply construction as beefy as yours. Now your gonna have to show off some of your projects that come off of that machine!

Hello Again,
Thanks for all of the kind comments. I have a couple of signs to show that I am proud of. These two signs are actually for two different guy's named Donnie. Both friends from work. Also a Maple with Walnut inlay trial done with V-Carve Pro. Enjoy. :)
