Hey Guys,
I am looking for some input into the Kernel Speed that is best for my setup. My comp gets the nicest pulse stream at 25khz and 35khz. At 45khz the line is still reasonable but a bit fuzzy.
When I run a config test mach tells me that I have my kernel speed to high.
What do you guys think. I have attached screen shots of motor settings and I have attached the config test. I am currently running these at 45Khz.
If I can run at 35khz and acheive these 15000mm/min then I would.
Thanks

Use the kernel that allows you to get the max rapids your steppers are reliable at, if the kernel is set to high and is not smooth then it may not be as reliable at the max velocity of a lower kernel. Steppers are all trial and error and machine dependant.

There is *ZERO* benefit to running kernel speed any higher than necessary to achieve the rapid speed you want. By my calculation, 25kHz will do that for you (I get a bit over 22kHz max pulse rate for 15000mm/min @ 90steps/mm).

Wow. Thanks.
Ok well I will try my best to recalculate the steps per and try a new kernel speed.
I get a beautifully straight line on the driver test with a lower setting so I am happy to switch.
