Title: Mach3 and VCarve
Post by: silent on February 05, 2012, 12:49:21 PM
Hey guys,
I was wondering if I could get some help from you guys I am pretty new to the cnc scene and am struggling with 2 programs.
I am a 3d printing enthusiast, so while on thingiverse.com i spotted this http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3829, and thought what an awesome thing to cut. I converted the svg to a dxf using ink scape and following a tutorial I found, then I brought the dxf into Vcarve and joined the vectors. I started to make my tool paths using an 1/8" end mill  for all parts. I tried both saving all visable tool paths to one file since I'm not changing tools as well as individually. I have been saving as mach3arc.mm and also tried mach3arc.in and just gcode.tap when i could not get the tool paths to show up .

I have tried switching commands in the general config IJ to absolute and incremental, after flip flopping them a few times some times i can get the full tool path to come up but it still displays errors at the bottom of the mach3 window.
I have attached the screen shot of mach 3 as well as the mach3arc file generated by v carve  as well as the .tap file both yield the same results.
hopefully someone can give me some help or insight. thanks in advance for reading this

What are the errors??

Are you using a demo version of Mach3? It loads fine here.

That's not an error, it's just displaying comments in the code. The same message is displayed on my screen.

Can you attach your xml as well so that it can be tested with your configuration.
