I have used both Geckos and the Leadshine style drives and they are both good but personally I prefer the Geckos. Really though you need to find out why you are having issues with the G540 you have as they are also good so getting new drives will likely not solve your problems

As Hood has stated, fix your other problem first with the drives you already have.
