The wizard I'm having trouble with is the Newfangled "A Suite of Handy Wizards". It just wont let me select from my tool list. Not that I can't enter it myself but it worries me that something else may fail....It is a standalone machine so I really dont think it caught a virus. On the "tool properties" page when I click on the "select tool from table" button nothing happens anymore....always used to work. The machine that is having the problem has never been on any network at all. Not sure what went wrong....expect I clicked on something but for the life of me I can't get it to bring up tool table when I select that button. I still can bring up the table through >config>tooltable...
-
Just updated to 2.86 and no change....
-
RIley is it that you cannot pull up the tool table OR is it that you cannot make the selection from it? I just tried it here and it worked fine.
What version of windows are you running on?

tool table is working but cannot select tool from tool properties screen on wizard. There is a button to select tool from table that wont do anything anymore. Im running mach R3.042.040 on an XP Pro with service pack 3. Dual core 2.9 with 2 gig of ram. The PC has nothing but mach on it and it is totally stand alone....no network at all since Ajax CNC has the only LAN port tied up. Has worked like a charm for almost a year till now. I do import gcode with a flash drive on a daily basis.
-
didn't really answer your question.....when I click the select from tool table button nothing happens.
-
I see you have the Ajax plugin?? I would almost bet the Directory that the NF button is pointing to get the tool table is no longer there(;-)
Just a thought, (;-)
-
I just tried it, and the dialog box opens to make the choice, but the box is empty. That means the VB call to get the tool table is no longer working. Ill have to talk to Brian about this, he must have broken it in a later version.
Can anyone that has this working tell us a version so we can figure when it broke?

Ron Version R3.043.038 is working fine here.

Sorry, I jumped before complete testing.
The tool table works exactly as it should for me. My tool table was empty, so selecting from it showed an empty table. I made a couple entries and it works exactly as it should.
Unless someone has messed with the screen and lost the button code I cannot see anyway the 'select from tool table' button wont at least show a table- it will be empty if your tool table is empty.
-
Ron further testing shows even IF you remove the tool table from mach it will STILL bring up an empty window in the NFW.
(;-) TP

My tooltable is still working with programs....but I have to type in the tool I want to use and type in the diameter on the wizard. Only a minor inconvenience but would be nice if it worked again.
-
HIYA Riley, Have you retried teh wizards tool table again???
Try this if you get time. Open the NFW wizads then select a function then try to open the tool table. IF it does NOT open look at the bottom Windows bar and see IF it is down there IF so click it.
Also when it does NOT come up stop and window down Mach3 and see IF it is on the desktop screen behind the Mach3 screen.
Just a thought, (;-) TP

I did check for that and the tool table is nowhere to be found....I'm hoping that my install is not corrupt in some way. Thinking about a reinstall but not sure I want to risk it!
-
I dont think a reinstall is worth while. If you open the tool table on the settings screen do you have values in that table?
Do you have a standard Mach install, into C:\Mach3?
Your tool table is stored in C:|Mach3\Macros\<profilename>\tools.dat Is that file there?
The wizard cannot create a tool table, it canonly read the description anddiameter values from a table that is saved under the Offsetts screen.
-
I can get to my tool table through config/tooltable. I can make changes and the programs are using it. I know it sounds strange, but it just does not show up in the nfs wizard. Can I check the button script?
-
RON he is running the AJAX plugin. I suspect it has something to do with that. RILEY I would NOT do a reinstall. Hopefully we can work it out.
Let me clarify it again, when you push the button NOTHING happens? not even an empty window pops up? Does the screen flicker?
(;-) TP
-
No empty box, no screen flicker. The button does depress but that is all.
-
OK this is on the MACHINE computer (XP)correct?
-
Yes, xp box on the mill.

Chiming in on this topic.
Tool table works fine when I go into wizards and select one of the New Fangled Wizards , but if I go into Wizards and select something outside of New Fangled - say - Circular Pocket by Brian Barker -
when I put in a new tool number, the tool diameter does not change in the wizard window. When I post the code, the code does reflect the tool number I selected, but it refers to the wrong diameter in the code window (it shows whatever was in the wizard window previously). When the code runs the tool number and the tool diameter changes in the Tool Information window. Not a major problem, but it is disconcerting when reviewing the written code.

THe OTHER wizards are created by private individuals, they are the ones that you would need to contact for support.
OR learn to fix them(;-)
Just a thought,(;-) TP

It is only recently that users could read data from the tool table so the older wizards will not have this included in them. If you load the wizard and do a button script edit you can amend the code to take advantage of the new features.
-
Loaded the Circular Wizard from Brian again. The Button Editor doesn't bring up the Tool Number or Tool Dia. button/windows. Like I said, not a major problem, just something to be aware of when working with Wizards outside of the New Fangled Wizards. My solution is to refer to a printed sheet showing which tools my tool numbers refer to so I can plug in the correct tool and their diameters in the Wizard.
