You have a lot of decisions to make. The general componets you will need are. The Geckos are ready to use when you get them. Hook up the wires and adjust your gain.
1) Motors, stepper or servos?
2) A power supply if you go with steppers.
3) Drives, either way, you will need these.
4) A breakout board.

Steppers systems are genrally a lot less expensive. Before you start buying parts, do some research. We will help all we can. Some boards have the drives built into them. I'm way partial to the Geckos. They are very nice. ;D

You could also look at getting a finished drive set from Alan at custom-cnc.com or Bob http://www.campbelldesigns.com/

Didn't know if you would like to have a finished product :)

Both have Geckos

Just a comment-- using Mach3  and the program addons from newfangledsolutions.com, what is the best way to generate G-code for machining. We have found that the G-code from BoB CadCam still needs to be written with additional G-code to correctly run.

You should be able to write code in the wizards that are free to cut simple features... What are you looking to do?

http://www.pmdx.com makes a pretty cool breakout board that snaps on top of up to 4 geckos. I think stepper only though. I used their pmdx-121 in the past and they have some nice stuff.

When it comes to building a router ebay can be your best friend.
