I am currently in the early planning stages of small lathe conversion

I am looking to use 1.5kw (3ph) motor controlled by VFD

possibly a IMO Jaguar VXR inverter (1ph input)

When using mach is there preference to the type of

motor control ie either pwm or step/dir I should aim for ?

I am pretty green at this so I am trying to get everything

clear in my head first before I part with cash.

 Cheers George

				Hi George,

I sell both types of voltage generators, and I find that the PWM version are simpler to set up and more resilience to noise. I would suggest the PWM control type.

I use Peter's DC06 on my router 3.7Kw driven by a vfd. Works a treat, got speed on off and direction, Highly recommended and mine has done hours and hours on end with never a hick up.
Be warned depending on your BOB  you may have some issues, I remember mine gave me a bit of grief before I managed to get it to run correctly.
