Title: Galil encoder feedback
Post by: jmroberge on May 15, 2011, 10:14:42 PM
I have a 3 axis CNC controlled by a galil 2180 controller. The 3 axis are stepper buy I do have a rack and pinion with an encoder on the x axis. I you that the encoder can not be used posiion feedback but I would like to use it as manual feedback so I connected it to the w axis encoder input on the Galil and I can see the encoder display on the axis #4 position display. The only problem is that I would like to scale this display to align to the mm scale currently used on the x axis. This way i could always compared the x axis dispaly and the axis #4 display for error or drift.
Is there a way to apply a scale factor to this display? is this a scale factor in Galil or Mach3?

Thanks for the help

I believe that you want to scale the A axis in a manner similar to scaling the X thru Z axes. I tried this using the same method as I use for the 3 main axes, but couldn't get it to work. You may need to try using the motor tuning to scale the a axis for this purpose. It is not a part of the Galil plugin.
