Title: Vector Tracer
Post by: Things on February 19, 2011, 04:25:36 AM
Hi, so I have an image here I am trying to get into gcode. I open it up in lazycam, and the output looks pretty good, however when I click OK, it goes to looking terrible?

Dan,
What you show is  why  I am always saying that the "magic wands" for converting images leave something to be desired and I don't use them.
Some of the higher end programs work well. You would be better off just drawing that figure and inporting a DXF. You can fix some of the problems in LC
but would probably frustrate you and would take more time to do it than draw it.

Hi, I have no problems drawing it. I'll see if I can trace it in Illustrator.

Cheers,

Hi Rich, I opened the file in illustrator and converted it to a vector and exported it as DXF, however I still seem to have problems with LazyCam mutilating the image. Are there any other programs that work a bit better?

Dan,
Try attached dxf. Like I said the "magic wands" usually leave something to be desired. Here is a dxf that was drawn in less than 10 minutes.
Pic of the file when in LC mill also attached.
