I am in the infancy of starting up my CNC router and have another basic question.

How do I tell Mach where the top edge of my piece to cut is located? Is there an offset you enter first before running one of the example G code files (such as the Road Runner?

 Thanks

Jog the tool to the top of the part, and zero the Z axis.

Well that is too simple  :D

Thanks for pointing out the obvious (I am learning lots as I go)

A little further down the line you may want to implement the Auto Tool Zero function using a touch plate.

A search of the forum for 'touch plate' should bring up all the details of what others have done here. It is a worthwhile addition to any machine which I would not be without now.
