I have searched the site to find a similar problem with all the posts concerning this, they are all incomplete, with no real answer..

I have followed the directions from the cnc4pc site. it is an old board but I bought new and just now getting to use it..

pp/millopp/checked the box set to step/dir
pp/motoroutputs/checked spindle set to pin 14 for both pins port 1 (vol/acc I have tried from 500 to 2000 in 500 increments and have the step/dir pulse set to 5)
I did try setting only one pin for step/dir to 14 leaving 0 in the other, and all 4 combos with the dir/low. well back n fourth for 3 hours with different setting here
I have tried almost ever config with dirlow/lowactive

I can get the pin14 on the 5vdc side to work, but not the 0-10vdc????

I have all 3 axis working, plus flood/mist
the charge pump on pin 17/jumped properly(x,y,z will not work with this setting incorrect?)

I am using a baldor smartmotor as my spindle(which at this point doesn't matter because I can't get the required 0-10vdc. on the out of the EPOT)

I have tried many different setting in the pulley setup.....

 Anybody got any ideas?

BTW this is not a mill/lathe/router/plasma/laser it is a 3 axis machine with a spindle which has no meaning really just gonna answer now..lol...

HELP PLEASE, I want to final test this soon.... I can run the spindle manually but I have already tested that way...

Having followed the instructions you have forgotten to add 12v this is needed to get out 10v

Nope, just figured that everybody would assume I had it.
I do have the following power in there respective places.
 5vdc
 12vdc
 70vdc
 110vac
 240-3phvac

First thing you do is disconnect the 10v to the VFD

Set the trim pot to the centre position

Set up a pulley, now you are aiming to get 10v out when the VFD is at it's max speed but it must have a minimum speed.

The actual figures don't matter it could be 1000 max 200 min

I have a pic of 100 min 500 max you will never have a zero speed, so if we get 10v at 500 when the speed is set to 100 we should get 2v

You are after a ratio in this instance of 5, 2, 1.

My setup is metric so the figures may be out for you, but it is trial and error and nothing can be damaged

Setup CONFIG/PORTS N PINS/SPINDLE SETUP you need to tick the two boxes

Now go to CONFIG/MOTOR TUNING see my setup pic you can adjust all you want you cannot damage anything, but you are just making up the numbers to get 10v when you have 500 set and 2v when you change to 100 DON'T FORGET TO SAVE THE SETTINGS

When you get as close as you can to the ideal voltage you then use the trim pot to fine tune the voltage

When you get the correct voltage on the output then you can connect it to the VFD to test

Ok, I had the spindle set up corect.
My numbers were the recomended ones from cnc4pc
I'll try those numbers, tomorrow and get back. I'll take some screen shots and post'em if it doesn't work.

what about the active low and the other setting? I never understand those, I just try them... Lol!

Hey thanks for your assistance!!! I mean that! I hope to geter wrking right.

Are you using a smooth stepper ?

 Phil
-
				No.
 C11g gecko 340 desktop pc
-
I tried those settings and NO GO.... I cang the the pin 14 light to light up but no voltage..

Its a new c11g, I have had it in waiting...
-
Ok attach your xml, you will have to rename it and i wil have a look

Hood says I'm a smart @rse so i may e able to fix it. ;D

 Phil

I'll get it tomorrow, the lady says I'm
 in for the night...

Well you are certainly smarter than this arse on this subject, I dont have a clue about VFD control as I use a 12.5kw servo on the lathe spindle ;D

12.5Kw how many HP is that. ;D

Depends whether you are talking Clydesdale/shhire type HP or Rich's  Dressage pony type HP ;D

Lol... Smart arse :D... I get called that alot too... But I grew up thinking my name was God D >:D.  I'll leave the last name for your imagination...lol...

 Well heres the file.. :-\.

this is the last attemt at getting the spindle to opperate, all else works fine.

My actual gear ratio from motor to the tool is 5.25:1 and the motor only turns 1740. My rpms will be very slow, as it's not the normal CNC ::) machine.
I hope I/You/We can get this thing running... I got other stuff to do while this machine is working, lol... Like re-assemble my plasma machine, which I pried into to confirm some wiring issues..
Thanks again for all your help...

Hood, why didn't you just hook a 427 up as your spindle? LOL... High SPEED... WHOOOPoooW!!! My router spindle is only like 5 hp, but it'll sure cut the h3ll out of FOAM even witha 12"longX1"dia endmill... LOL... That's all I ever cut on it for rapid prototyping my cement originals....
-
That is 5.25 motor 1 tool.....

OK I've had a look at the xml.

You have lots & lots of errors. for example on ports n pins Motor Outputs you have spindle set to use pin 14 for step AND direction

In ports n pins, spindle set up you have spindle Fwd, Rev, Mist & flood all set to use pin 1

In ports n pins, inputs you are using four pins for limits/homing these are normally to one pin unless you are using pukka homing switches

Have you got the instructions for the C11g board ? if no what revision is it ?

You need to do some reading as to how to do the wiring/pin assignments. I could change the xml but you still have to wire it correctly.

				Lol Hood was right...lol..

Just want the spindle to work.
I tried 3 combinatons with step direction you got the last try. Step pulse is set to 0. Last combination.
I forgot to uncheck that switch in home limits.
Pin 1 is correct, it's a solid state relay on the board? If I change that I'd have to hook up a relay for a 5vdc to control it.
 It's rev ??? It doesn't say. I'm guessing 5.4.
I read that as I did the most of the Mach manual. I'm gonna guess I have a board problem.

-
You cannot control spindle Fwd, Rev, Mist & flood all using pin 1

So for instance pin 1 Fwd, pin 2 Rev, pin 3 Flood, pin4 mist, you must make the choice of what is available after the motor assignments

On ports n pins Motor Outputs you have spindle set to use pin 14 for step AND direction its got to have a different number for direction

If you cannot grasp what i am saying you will get nowhere, sorry

The Rev number is printed on the board btw

 Phil
-
Ok, I'm sorry. You misunderstood me... I am not calling or using those to control anything, but I'll put in a number 2-17
I do totally grasp what you are saying.

I'll get you the rev number. But there is only one wireing diagram on the site, and pin 14 is pin 14 which from my reading on all three revs posted that would stand true to them all.

 Thanks for your help.
-
After carefully inspecting the board there is no rev number. And no there does not have to be. It is not a REVISED board it is from the first run.

Mach will not allow me to change the step pulse or direction pulse on a single axis? Why is that?
If I change the spindle to 5 step and 0 direction it changes ALL motion axis too.

Because thats the way it is, you can only adjust the Pulse Width and Dir Prechange for the whole system.

				Ok. Thanks...

 I'm gonna make a call....
