Title: Are there cutting depth, spindle speed and feedrate tables available?
Post by: bkusp on February 15, 2010, 07:41:03 PM
Are tables available for general settings for cut depth, spindle speed and feedrate per material and end mill?  Are there any rules of thumb......"cut only as deep as end mill is wide" kinda wisdom available to a newbie?  For example, If I'm using a 1/16" bit to cut 1/8" aluminum, how deep should each pass be and at what spindle speed and what feedrate?

Thanks in advance Gurus,
Brian

See attached.
A handout i use with classes just starting with CNC programming / Milling.
It has a couple of questions on it - work them out, i can check my answers then?
It is metric - most students struggle to understand the 1000 in the RPM formula, it is only to use M/min surface speed with tooling measured in mm.
