Title: Monitor connector and Power Supply
Post by: Overloaded on February 13, 2010, 02:29:13 PM
Hey folks,
I bought some LCD monitors that use an external PS that were not included in the sale.
Never used this type and see many of these power units for sale from various mfg and Universal ones as well.
Do they all have the same connector for the monitor ? Is it a standard or do I need to be specific.

Also, some of the monitors are ViewSonic and have an additional connector on the back. Sort of looks like a DB25 with a small square pin pattern in it with the other pins. I don't need it but was wondering what the heck it is for.
Thanks,
RC :)

Sounds like a DVI output, some monitors have both VGA and DVI outputs, some only DVI and some only VGA. As you suspect you dont need it but can use it is you wish, all deppends what cable you have ;D

As for the adapters, no idea i am afraid as like all other stuff there are multitudes of different sockets used.

Thanks for the info Hood.

Got lucky, picked up 3 of the ps's and they all fit.
Some are 4a, some are 5 but both work OK.
Time will tell.
