Due to hardware problems, a customer had to re-install all his software to a new computer. Everything is up and running, but with one small problem. When he posts a file out of Lazycam and returns to the Mach screen, the new Lazycam job is not on his Mach screen. All the option settings in Lazycam seem to be set correctly.
-
When he uses LazyCam, does he use the Mach screen ie; FILE>LazyCam....
I assume that he installed LazyCam when installing Mach.
I had the same problem, a long time ago, darn if i can recall what was wrong. I think i just did a reinstall
of both and all was fine. Sorry i can't be of more help.
BTW, what version of Mach and LazyCam?

I've seen this before as well but can't remember the solution. Using the latest versions, downloaded on Friday. AFAIK, he installed both at the same time, then copied over his screen sets, etc. His older version (on dead computer) worked as expected.
-
More news from the customer. When he tries to load a job from Mach, nothing happens; job is not loading. He is not real computer literate but AFAIK, he has installed Mach properly and copied over his old setup files and macros.

MOTU,
I assume your aware that there is a manual for LazyCam in the Members Docs.
See section 4.0, 6.0 to 6.2.3
I am not sure what you mean by load a job.... do you mean something done in LC and posted to Mach?
Or do you mean.... He is trying to load a Gcode file he created or was created by another program?

I have included a number of dxf files that are used in the tutorials.
TheY are in the thread and here is the link:

By "load a job" I mean load and run a previously posted job.
Job is created from a software pkg. such as Lazycam.
Job is then loaded from within Mach.
Customer is unable to load any previously posted jobs.
-
Can you post one of those jobs and i will give a try here?
I also assume that they ran in prior versions of Mach ( before 036 ).

I'll try to get a file.
Yep, everything was gravy till he broke his computer and had to replace it.
Old and new computer are both XP machines.
Thanks for your help!

Question! I have entered all the info (appears correctly done) in tutorial #1 of the manual up until the first "Save", which I did. Manual then instructs to post the code and test it. I tried but the code does not post to MACH3. (I have disabled the Parallel Port Driver to test code in "simulate mode"). Is this because I am currently using the "Free" version and am limited by lines of code, or do I need to look for another error on my part?
Appreciate anyones assist!

Did you open LazyCam from within Mach? ie; FILE>LazyCam
Did you check the box....post file to Mach3 when posted in LC's ....SETTINGS>POSTING OPTIONS?
Free version of Mach and or LazyCam? Free version of Mach limits the number of lines it will run and you need the Pro version of LazyCam
to post when using any of the advanced features.

I opened LC as a stand alone. Does it need to be opened from MACH?
In LC, I set the Posting Options to post code to C:/MACH3/GCode (a folder generated by MACH at install.)
At this time, I only have the free versions of both programs. I thought I read that LC will post IF the parallel port setting in MACH is turned off so it will "simulate".

Does it need to be opened from MACH?
Yes, otherwise it goes to whatever directory you defined.
So open MACH, and then open LC via the File tab. The in LC check the box as said in my other reply.
LC will post IF the parallel port setting in MACH is turned off so it will "simulate".
I don't know where you read that......

Will try it tomorrow. Thankls for info! Also, don't remember where I read the parallel port thing, maybe somewhere on the forum site. I'm really not going crazy...I saw it somewhere!

You can dry run / simulate a file in Mach with no machine movement if the controller is disconnected from the PC ( PP cable not attached), or the motors are disengaged, or if the PP port is not defined in Mach. Simply put, if the pulse stream from the PC is not going anywhere.
I think that is what you are meaning.
LC posting / use is still restricted as noted in my other reply. If unlicensed then you will get an error if you try to do a pocketing for example.

Got it. Thanks!

Rich,
Finally found where I read the "...disabled the parallel port to test code.." comment I mentioned earlier. It was on "THE HOME OF MACH3 AND LAZYCAM" page under LAZYCAM. I assumed (wrongly) it applied to LazyCam. It said.
"Licensing and Updating...
A license is only required on the computer(s) actually running the machine(s). If a computer not connected to a machine is used to test code, please use Mach3 in Simulation mode - it will remove the 500 line limit. Simulation mode can be accessed by uninstalling (or not installing) the Parallel Port Driver."Although I was wrong in which application it applied, at least I know I'm not crazy!
Thanks!

at least I know I'm not crazy
Well that's your opinion, you posted and I replied.......... only room for one to fly over the cuckoo's nest, guess we'll just leave it up to all the other users to figure it out!
