I am running Mach3 with a Xylotex 3-axis, 425 oz.in. motor system on the bench, no load.
I can use the arrow keys or mouse over the direction buttons on the screen and the motors turn.
If I repeatedly jog  the motors activating the same direction button the Y and z axis motors will intermittantly revers direction.
I can't find a pattern on when and how often the motors will reverse direction while pushing the same direction button.
Does anyone have any ideas. It would be much apreciated.
 Thanks.

Bad connection, noise or problem on the driver board.

Thanks. I will look into the connections and ask Xylotex about testing the board.

				Hi Rick

A similar problem was posted recently and the outcome was that the motor connections were incorrect.

I also had this happen recently with my 4th axis setup. When I had the cable from the motor directly wired to the drive via screw terminals, it worked flawlessly. When I set up a 6 pin DIN connector, I somehow got my wiring sloppy enough to have just enough solder touching 2 contacts (or a bad plug as I could not see any contact of solder anywhere) and this made the motor turn opposite directions when it should have only been going in one.

I cut the plug off and wired it straight to the drive again, and tada !, success again. Now to do a cleaner job soldering next time - ;D

Thanks to all. I did cut off the connectors (that I made) to the "Y" axis motor and remade this wire and everything works fine now.
Either I will find a better connector or eventually once I am confident with the set up I will solder the cables to the wires.
 Thanks.

Glad you got it sorted Rick. (don't take any soldering lessons from Dave  :D )
